Hematite with epitaxial Rutile
hem01kd - 5.5x4x0.5 cm
Cavradi, Tavetsch, Canton Graubunden, Switzerland
$400
A stunning large Alpine hematite cluster! The crystals are big,
sharp and chrome-bright. Striations on the crystal faces show intricate
growth patterns and there are small, red rutile crystals scattered
across the specimen. Looks great from both sides.
I never get tired of looking at this European classic. This is
a killer hematite!

Hematite with epitaxial Rutile on Quartz
hemqz01kd - 8x7x5 cm
Cavradi, Tavetsch, Canton Graubunden, Switzerland
$375
A fascinating specimen consisting of two large and several smaller
quartz crystals, most of which are heavily included with all sorts
of pocket material, and many of which are doubly-terminated. The
contrast between the glassy, lustrous crystal faces and the chaotic,
almost organic-looking interiors is amazing.
Nestled between the two main crystals is a jumble of small (1 cm)
mirror-like hematite blades. Finally, many of the hematites also
have a scattering of epitaxial rutile.
Not your typical Swiss hematite specimen!

Hematite
hempak01 - 5x4x4 cm
Tormiq, Gilgit-Skardu Road, Northern Areas, Pakistan
$175
A very interesting Iron Rose from Pakistan. Thick, tightly stacked
hematite blades with bright faces and nice etched patterns on most
of the crystals. Not as smooth and bright as Swiss material, but
close, and from Pakistan, which is producing some really nice Alpine
minerals these days.
